Chorus Rehearsal

Membership

Membership of the Chorus is open to anyone in the broad King’s community -- students, faculty, staff, and members of the local community. We are an SATB Chorus, which means we sing in the traditional choral voice parts of Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Bass.

We welcome new members prior to each university term: in September and in January. We offer informal auditions to check that you are singing the most suitable voice part. These brief meetings are very casual, and no previous training or experience is required.

Level

The King’s Chorus offers a high-level choral training and performance experience for singers of all abilities, from the beginner to the professional. No prior experience is required. We sing challenging and beautiful music, and we make sure to have fun while we do, cultivating an inclusive and non-competitive atmosphere in which to participate.

Section Leads

Paid Section Lead positions are held by professional singers; one each of Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Bass. These positions are filled in an annual application and audition process. We also maintain a substitute paid singer list to cover absences, and to enlarge the group for specific performances.

To apply for a Section Lead position or to be a substitute singer for the 2025/26 season, please send a résumé, specifying your choral voice part and previous choral experience to music@ukings.ca.

We are still seeking an Alto Section Lead!
